Follow the Tigers!

After a week of basketball camp, many of the campers really got to know members of the Hampden-Sydney Basketball team.  Khobi, Fletcher, Harrison, Mike, Cam, Greg, and Patrick are all returning to the hardwoods for the upcoming 2012-13 basketball season. To follow the Tigers, log on to http://www.hscathletics.com/sports/mbkb/index for team news, statistics, roster, schedule, and live broadcasts of games.  Come out to Kirby Field House to watch the games and when you do, please be sure to say "Hello" to Coach Vick and Coach Blunt!

Day 4 Basketball Academy

The last day of basketball camp is Championship Day.  The campers begin their day with a big breakfast and then head to the gym for their final workout.  After stretches and stations, campers compete in the final rounds of Hot Shot, 1-on-1, 3-Point Shot, and Free Throw contests. The championship games in each of the three divisions are also played.  The following teams were victorious in each of the three camp leagues:  Wake Forest, Longwood, and Knicks. Many parents joined us for the final hour of camp so that they could see their child in action.  It was a terrific week and we hope you will come back to H-SC Basketball Camp next year!  Below are some final pictures for you to enjoy.

Dodgeball

Dodgeball is another tradition of Hampden-Sydney Basketball Camp. Counselors hear the campers asking all week long, "When are we going to play dodgeball?"  If you think these kids are competitive basketball players, you should see them play on the dodgeball court!

Shooting for the Stars

The Shooting for the Stars game is a camper favorite at H-SC Basketball Camp.  A few lucky contestants have the opportunity to make shots for prizes.  Prizes accumulate and get increasingly better, depending on how many successful shots a camper can make.  This year's bounty included socks, Twizzlers, basketball clipboards, ITunes gift cards, Beats headphones, and an XBox360.

Gone Fishin'

This might be the only basketball camp in the country where campers can go fishing in their free time!  After much begging by several Raleigh campers, Coach Vick rigged several rods for some fishing in the Chalgrove Lake on campus.  Fishing is a favorite pastime of Coach Vick's, so it didn't take too much convincing.  Bragging rights were earned for the one and only catch of the day by one lucky Raleigh fisherman.
