Monday Madness

The Hampden-Sydney gym was the place to be on Monday where scores of kids were hooping it up at basketball camp. The euphoria and frenzy that is often associated with the NCAA March Madness was witnessed here in Kirby Fieldhouse all day long. Buzzer beaters, overtimes, and wish-and-a-prayer lobs were seen as the campers played their hearts out. Players began the day rotating through stations and drills where they worked on conditioning and skill development. Next were the highly-anticipated games. Campers have been drafted to teams in three different leagues, the ACC, the NBA East, and the NBA West.  Right now, it is anybody's guess as to who will become the camp champs. After games one and two and much chatter between coaches, several key trades were made which will make the competition even more interesting on Tuesday.

This shot is for the win! One of our youngest campers, 8, is the last man standing. If he makes it, Coach Vick told the camp to celebrate like they just won the National Championship game.
